Rani Mukerji To Don The Director’s Hat In 2020?
The very talented actress Rani Mukerji has begun filming for Mardaani 2, the second instalment of the popular 2014 flick Mardaani on human trafficking. Recently, her first look from the film was revealed. Rani plays the role of Senior Inspector of the Mumbai Crime Branch, Shivani Shivaji Roy.

Now, if reports in Mumbai Mirror are anything to go by, then the actress has plans of making her directorial debut in 2020. Rani is gearing up to launch herself as a director next year. Indeed, this is good news. Let’s wait for an official announcement on this, though.

Rani married filmmaker Aditya Chopra in April 2014 and took a sabbatical from work to look after their daughter, Adira. After a four-year hiatus, the actress made a comeback with Siddharth P Malhotra’s Hichki that released in 2018. The movie failed to create a storm at the box-office, but Rani’s performance earned praise from all quarters. Now that the actress has decided to don the director’s hat, we are excited to see what the first project she chooses is.

Speaking of her film Mardaani 2, in an interview with a daily, the actress had said, "Mardaani is and will always be extremely close to my heart. Since its release, everyone has asked me time and again when I would be doing Mardaani 2 and I’m sure this announcement will come as a pleasant surprise to all of them. Gopi has written an extraordinary script and I can’t wait to start shooting this film soon. Shivani will face a cold, merciless villain, who has no empathy, no fear of God and who is pure evil. The character has been written superbly and I’m excited to find out which actor will play the antagonist."
